February/March 2025

I’m expecting to hear the phrase ‘seven-year itch’ quite often in the coming weeks and months, as this March marks my husband and I’s seventh wedding anniversary! After ten years together though, I can’t see it really affecting us; he was forgetful 10 years ago, he still was seven years ago, and he certainly is now, so I guess that’s just him and after 46 years on the planet, he won’t be changing now! Ultimately, it’s the good, the bad and the ugly (you should see his choice in clothes!) that I signed up for. Love is blind and all that!

So, to this issue... we’ve got four gorgeous real weddings for you to be inspired by, all our couples have tied the knot at picture-perfect Surrey venues: Nutfield Priory, Millbridge Court, Ridge Farm and Gorse Hill. For more venue inspiration, we have features showcasing big-day venues in Waverely and Mole Valley, and those that are steeped in history.

Once you’ve found your wedding venue, you’ll need to think about how to decorate it, head over to page 57 where you can be inspired by 2025 trends; and a pièce de résistance at the reception will be your wedding cake, so we have some delectable designs you must see on page 61.

As always, we’re packed-to-the-brim with inspiration, advice, news, and offers, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy this issue as much as I've loved writing it.

Enjoy, and until the next issue...

Stanhill Court Hotel

Stanhill Court is surrounded by 35 acres of meticulously maintained ancient woodland, offering a peaceful escape from urban life. The lush grounds provide a serene, picturesque setting ideal for outdoor ceremonies; with its natural beauty and carefully preserved landscape, it’s a perfect retreat for those seeking a connection with nature.

Exuding classic country house charm, a long, tree-lined driveway welcomes guests leading to the hotel’s elegant exterior – timeless architecture seamlessly blending with the natural beauty of its setting.

Renovated in 2019, the hotel offers sleek, updated interiors while preserving its classic features. Ceremonies take place al fresco in The Amphitheatre (up to 88 guests), a blank canvas masterpiece nestled in the grounds and completely secluded from the main house.

Inside, The Charlwood (up to 250) is ideal for a larger guest list and the suite is situated within the extension of the hotel. With wood panelling and sparkling chandeliers, the Charlwood Suite sets the scene for a grand affair with natural light and a neutral aesthetic.

The Orangery (up to 180) is beautifully bright and illuminated by lig ht; overlooking the lawns and Surrey countryside, the doors open directly out to the terrace and main lawn.

Lastly, 1881 (55) is for a more intimate affair boasting similar attributes to the Charlwood Suite with its wood panelling walls and crystal chandeliers. The naturally bright space overlooks the terrace and lawn also.

Post-vows the wedding breakfast can be taken in the The Charlwood, The Orangery, and 1881 for 170, 85 and 40 guests respectively. Maximum capacity for day guests is 250, and evening 170.

Stanhill Court offers 56-bedrooms blending modern elegance with historic charm; the bridal suites boast luxurious four-poster king-size beds and breathtaking views of the scenic grounds.

All couples tying the knot here are invited back for a complimentary stay including breakfast for their first-year wedding anniversary. A tree is also planted in the beautiful grounds in honour of the special day with a plaque made especially – their special journey will always be remembered at Stanhill Court.

Couples share the key ingredient to a long-lasting relationship

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, greeting card marketplace, thortful, has spoken to five couples who are still going strong after many years about the key ingredient to a long-lasting relationship – and one is quite taboo. Speaking to the five couples, who have all been together longer than 10 years, communication, small gestures, and alone time were among the most common ingredients for a long-lasting relationship. All couples even unanimously agreed that farting in front of each other strengthens their relationships. Lack of communication is among the top reasons for break ups, according to experts, which is why Tom Lanaway, who has been with his partner for 11 years, claims strong communication to be the key to his strong connection.
