December/January 2024/2025 |
|
The editor’s letter for the December/January issue is always an interesting one to write, December the month of reflection and January the month of new beginnings together in one place.
Last year, on New Year’s Eve my sister-in-law introduced me to an age-old tradition that I just love the symbolism of; on the first stroke of midnight you open the back door to usher out the past year and any of the bad luck it brought; the door is quickly closed again and locked. On the twelfth stroke, the front door is opened to welcome in the New Year and its good fortune. This is something I will make sure I do every year now, hopeful that the slate is magically wiped clean and renewed with incoming hope and goodness in abundance for 2025.
Should you be tying the knot this winter, do get in touch (my contact information is below) as I just love, love, love winter nuptials and would be thrilled to feature your big day in Your Surrey Wedding; couples just seem to throw out the rule book at this time of year, focusing on colour, cosiness and creativity.
This issue is packed to the brim with inspiration, we have gorgeous real weddings and styled shoots showcasing what we love about the county of Surrey. What’s more, we have some stunning properties where you can tie the knot in winter style in the Winter Venues feature, or in the local areas of Guildford and Woking. Also, shining a spotlight on local talent, check out the wedding flowers and the bridal boutiques articles showcasing local businesses – the ethos of our magazine!
It’s been a pleasure sharing our 2024 with you all, and I look forward to seeing what 2025 brings for everyone!
See you next issue,
Danielle x

Where To Wed In Guildford and Woking |

West Horsley Place
The Manor House at West Horsley Place is a perfect setting for a country house wedding, surrounded by five acres of walled gardens including a rose garden. An open champagne lawn, which comes straight from the side of the house, is the ideal place to step outside for drinks and photographs. This 600-year-old building, which hosted Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, is full of history and charm. It sits next to a beautifully restored barn which is a bright blank space, ready to personalise. The venue’s romantic and fragile beauty, almost untouched by the last century, creates beautiful photographs with stunning features such as an arched front door and heaps of wisteria.
Receptions and ceremonies, for up to 150, can take place in either the manor house or the barn depending on your preference. One building can be booked, or both can be booked together to create a perfect flow to your day. There is also the option to put a marquee inside the beautiful walled gardens. A popular choice is to enjoy the ceremony in the stone hall of the manor house, drinks and photography in the walled gardens, and then move to the barn for dinner and dancing.
West Horsley Place is a unique and historically important building; currently on England’s Heritage At Risk register, it’s loved by couples who enjoy the magic of its beauty and also take delight in the fact that their wedding supports a charity and will help conserve the building for future generations. West Horsley Place has been used in many feature films and TV shows and is very well-known around the world as Button House from the hit BBC comedy Ghosts.

Just keep rolling along with Tisserand Armomatherapy Rollerballs |
|
Essential oils have the ability to switch up our emotional and mental state, but if you're new to aromatherapy, getting started can feel like a bit of a minefield. The easiest and most effective way to experience their power is all about pairing them with your pulse points according to Tisserand Aromatherapy and their small but mighty rollerballs help to do just that. "Your pulse points are the parts of the body where your blood is closest to the skin," explains Jo Kellet, Tisserand Aromatherapy Essential Oil Expert. "Applying here allows for fast absorption and quicker results. To maximise the benefit of both your olfactory senses and your pulse points, it's best to place them where your nose can still get a whiff!"
